The original Comiskey Park, built in 1910 at 35th Street and Shields Avenue, was dubbed the “baseball palace of the world” for its modern steel and concrete construction.
On July 1, 1910, the White Sox played their first game in the fireproof park. It was made entirely of steel and concrete and seated 32,000 which included 7,000 in twenty-five-cent bleachers.
